Can I get a stairlift for free?
Yes, some people may qualify for a Disabled Facilities Grant (DFG) through their local council. If you have a disability that affects your mobility at home, and you’re on a low income, the council might fund part or all of your stairlift. Full details are covered in our guide on how to get a stairlift grant.
Are stairlifts available on the NHS?
The NHS itself doesn’t typically fund stairlifts, but it may refer you to social services or an occupational therapist. In most cases, the local council will handle any grants or financial support through the DFG scheme.
How long does it take to get a stairlift fitted?
Straight stairlifts are often installed within 1–2 days of your survey, depending on availability. Curved stairlifts usually take around 6–10 working days, as they’re custom-made to suit the exact shape of your stairs.
What’s the difference between a stairlift and a home lift?
A stairlift travels along your staircase and is ideal for most two-storey homes. A home lift, or through-floor lift, moves vertically between floors and requires more structural work. For most people in Grimsby, a stairlift is quicker and more cost-effective.
Are reconditioned stairlifts safe?
Absolutely. Our reconditioned stairlifts are fully refurbished, tested, and installed to the same high standards as new models. Many customers choose them as a more budget-friendly option. Learn more about this in our guide to new vs reconditioned stairlifts.
