How a hen night ankle break left a bride needing a stairlift for her big day
It’s not the ideal start to anyone’s wedding celebrations. Poor Kim Hutchinson was partying on the dancefloor on her hen night in Liverpool when a complete stranger decided to jump on her back and send her crashing to the floor with a broken ankle.
As reported in the Hereford Times, Kim and husband Iain were getting married in the Town Hall, but that meant climbing three flights of steps – not easy when your leg’s in plaster.
Fortunately, a stairlift was on hand to help Kim get to the ceremony on time although it, together with the leg brace, crutches, and the council chap who operated the stairlift, were rather unconventional additions to the wedding photos.
“I was a little bit disappointed,” Kim told her local newspaper, rather understandably. “It’s not the perfect thing you want for your wedding day. But there was nothing I could do. I just had to go with the flow.”
It was photographer Clare Jennings who spotted the stairlift and thought it would make for an unusual addition to the couple’s wedding photography.
We’ll admit, we’ve yet to see our stairlifts used for a wedding ceremony, but perhaps we just haven’t heard the news yet?
